Week 15: Morning Prayers

Morning Prayers

May 26 – June 1, 2024

Rule of Life focus for this Week is TABLE.

Sunday

Rest as a Rule of Life

Today is a sacred day for rest and renewal of body, mind, and spirit.

Laugh, play, take a nap. Simply be present to each moment.

Daily Prayer for a Spring Forest Rule of Life

May our lives be a prayer

May God work through our prayers

May our work be an answer

To God’s will working through us

May we rest in God’s love

May God’s rest feed our souls

May our table be open

May we welcome friends and foes

May the poor be our neighbors

May our neighbors be blessed.

Amen

The Lord’s Prayer

A Reading

The poet Rumi talks of the inner “Guest House” where each day new emotions arrive, Joys and sorrows, and the whole range of feeling that we experience in this journey called life.  When we reflect on the concept of hospitality, we must admit that there are some things we just don’t want to include. Yet, we also need to admit that those experiences, emotions,

and people just might have something to teach us.

Reflect on what it means to live with an attitude of generous hospitality.

Intercessions

Sometimes, we come with disappointment and frustration. We don’t know what to do and feel helpless. Yet, we come asking your help to grant us peace that passes all understanding, hope that sustains and moves us to action, and love that trusts you hear our prayers.  Spirit, hold us as we pray this day for the things weighing on our hearts.

Sending Forth

Practice God’s generous hospitality in all you say and do.

Thursday, May 30, 2024: Psalm 81:1-10;  Psalm 139:1-6, 13-18; Exodus 31:12-18; 1 Samuel 1:1-18;  Acts 25:1-12
