Words in the Veil: Poetry as Medicine

"Words in the Veil" is an evening poetry retreat centered on the turning of the autumn season and Samhain—a time traditionally understood as one when the veil between life and death, light and dark, grows thin.

Together, participants will engage in reflection, playful exploration of words, walking meditation, a harvest meal, and a closing ceremony. No previous experience with poetry or ritual is necessary. The only things you'll need are an open heart, an open mind, an open spirit, and a pen.

All are welcome. Space is limited to 12 participants.

Vance Goodman is a Quaker mystic, poet, and spiritual caregiver who finds joy in reading, writing, hiking, and kayaking. They live in Asheville, North Carolina—a place they have long called home, having grown up exploring its forests and swimming in its creeks.
